Metro Footnote

At the start of the year, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) raised fares throughout the Metro system. There was concern that the increased fares would cause ridership to decrease (in a system already operating well beyond its capacity). The statistics have just been released. Results? No decrease in ridership. Reason? Gas prices.
